Do you ever feel like you’re waiting for things in your life to improve before you give yourself permission to feel great, relax, and enjoy?

If so, you’ll want to read and experience this!

Today I want to share with you a guest article by my dear friend and Law of Attraction Coach, Saskia Fokkink.I met her at Thrive Academy this past November and think she is amazing!

She has some great tips for changing your mindset in order to change your outer results AND a very generous offer to help you do this (keep reading!) :)

~

It’s human nature to think that if our external circumstances are good, then we will feel good on the inside…

But what if it’s actually the other way around?

What if when you feel good, you open up to let in all the good things life has to offer you?

You have everything you need to be happy in this moment.

And once you truly get this on a deep level, you can create beyond your wildest dreams–just by trusting that the good is coming, and that love is present in everything, always.

If you find this difficult, you’re not alone…

It’s normal to think that our circumstances – where we live, what we have, what we earn and so on – have a big effect on how happy we are. However, these things tend to have much less impact than most people expect.

Instead, research suggests that a big part of how happy we are is determined by our attitude and choices, rather than our circumstances.

So we have an opportunity to make ourselves and others happier by the way we approach our lives, and the actions we choose to take.

This means that some simple daily actions can have a positive impact on how happy we are and how happy we make the people around us.

And the beautiful thing is that once you start feeling good internally despite your external circumstances, you don’t need the external validation anymore anyway. And it is from this space that you can start attracting more things that make you feel good in a graceful way.

Here are 3 powerful things you can do to change your inner mindset regardless of external circumstances:

1. GratitudeMedium Rocks

Start appreciating the things you already have in your life.

If you start looking for it, love and beauty can be found anywhere. There is so much to be grateful for and appreciate.

One of the ways to receive more is to spend time appreciating what you have, expressing and feeling gratitude for what is working well.

Acknowledge even the simplest things – the flowers you see and smell, the heart-warming smile of a child, the food you eat. You will soon find the Universe sending you even more good things, for gratitude is magnetic.

2. Commit Random Acts of Kindness

Ask yourself “How can I serve?”

Taking your focus off “What can I get?”, and shifting it to “How can I serve?” is a very powerful way to get into a better feeling place.

First of all, it will take your mind off your problems.

But most importantly, serving others raises your vibration.

Did you know that an act of kindness not only makes the giver and receiver feel better, but also has a positive influence on the feelings of an observer?

By practicing extending kindness everywhere, you’ll find support showing up in ways that you could never have predicted.

If you say “How may I serve you?” with kindness in your voice and heart, the Universe’s response will be “How may I serve you as well?”

3. Daily Meditation Practice

You can use meditation to shift into a more relaxed and focused inner state–changing your external circumstances starts with getting more calm within.

No matter what you want to do, you will do it better with a relaxed body, an open heart, and a clear and focused mind.

Meditation is a great way to get connected to that inner space of peace, of trust, of deeply knowing that all is well.

There are many different styles of meditation, including but not limited to breathwork, body scan, and use of mantras and music.

The best style of meditation is the one that feels right for you.

You may decide to experiment with a few different styles and find the meditation style that feels best for you.

Do you find it difficult to do meditation by yourself?

I would be happy to offer you a guided meditation, so you can experience this beautiful space of inner peace for yourself.

  2. Lovely message. I especially like your point about random acts of kindness – though after half a lifetime of volunteering, these days I tend to prefer a more intentional approach. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Good to hear that I inspired you! When I put my intention to commit a random act of kindness, usually some situation will show up for me. I would love to hear what act of kindness you did and especially how it made you feel!” ~ (response from Saskia Fokkink)

  3. I am in full agreement of the need to express gratitude every day. I try to say 2 or 3 things I’m grateful for even before I roll out of bed. And in living in our internet world it’s easy to live inward. That’s why I love your suggestion of doing random acts of kindness, to get outside of ourselves.

    • Hi Dayna,

I love that practice of stating 2 to 3 things you’re grateful for (I do that in the evening!). :)

    • Yes, expressing daily gratitude is a great practice! Especially if you manage to connect to that feeling of gratitude, until you can feel a wave of gratitude throughout your entire body, just for the fact of being alive! And it is wonderful to see that when we practice gratitude, even more good things show up in our lives! ~ (response from Saskia Fokkink)
